Guwahati, 5th October: In the wake of incessant rainfall, Guwahati city experienced a devastating landslide that partially destroyed a house on Zoo-Narengi road. Fortunately, the family residing in the house managed to escape unharmed, averting a potential tragedy.
The landslide, a consequence of the relentless rains, is part of a broader crisis that the city is facing, with floods causing havoc due to the adverse weather conditions. The affected house, located precariously close to the edge of a hill in the Bhaskar Nagar area, bore the full impact of the landslide.
Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries or casualties in this incident. However, the house sustained significant damage, with its roof and guard walls completely destroyed.
The heavy and continuous rainfall has also led to flooding in various low-lying areas of Guwahati, posing additional challenges for residents and local authorities. The city is working diligently to address the issues arising from the inclement weather.
