Sikkim Schools Advised to Conduct Online Classes Amid Floods

Northeast Desk, 10th October: In response to the week-long closure of schools in four severely affected districts due to flash floods in Sikkim, the education department has advised schools to conduct online classes for students in grades IX, X, XI, and XII. This decision aims to mitigate the significant academic loss faced by students during the emergency closure.

The flash floods, caused by a cloudburst, prompted the education department to issue a notice for the closure of schools in the affected regions. In light of the unprecedented emergency situation, online classes are seen as a means to continue students’ education despite the temporary closure of physical school facilities.

This measure is expected to help students maintain their academic progress while ensuring their safety during the challenging situation caused by the floods.
