Guwahati, 11th October: A shooting incident occurred under the Lichubari police outpost in the Jorhat district on October 11, 2023. The incident unfolded in the midst of a tea garden in Lichubari, resulting in a serious injury to a young man.
The injured individual, identified as Basant Das from Gadmur Seuj Nagar in Jorhat, has been admitted to Jorhat Medical College. Notably, Basant Das has a history of three prior arrests on drug trafficking charges, and it’s believed that this incident might be drug-related.
Reports suggest that Basant Das was sitting in his vehicle with registration number AS-03-AH-9322 when an unidentified person shot at him and quickly fled the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the situation, and the injured youth received initial medical treatment at JMCH before being transferred to a hospital in Guwahati for advanced care.
