Assam CM: 5 lakh more beneficiaries will be added under Orunodoi scheme

Guwahati, 11th October: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, during his participation in the Orunodoi scheme implementation program in Kokrajhar on October 11, announced plans to include an additional 5 lakh beneficiaries within the Orunodoi scheme in the near future.

While addressing reporters after the event, CM Sarma said, “In just two days, an extra 7 lakh beneficiaries will be incorporated into the Orunodoi Scheme, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 27 lakh. We aim to extend this to 32 lakh beneficiaries soon. Our goal is to ensure that at least 50 percent of the population with ration cards can benefit from the Orunodoi scheme. This scheme provides a monthly aid of Rs 1200 to beneficiaries, with Rs 250 allocated for electricity bills, 2 kg of pulses and rice each, Rs 400 for medical expenses, and Rs 170 for repaying loans from various lending groups. We have published a guide outlining how the public can use the funds wisely.”

He also mentioned that, except for the BJP, UPPL, and AGP, other political parties will be overshadowed by the impact of the Orunodoi scheme.

CM Sarma emphasized that the government will distribute a booklet to the public, containing guidelines on how to prudently manage the funds from the Orunodoi scheme.

Notably, Chief Minister Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed Kokrajhar District BJP Office Building at Habrebari on Wednesday, while also distributing Orunodoi cards and certificates to women beneficiaries under the Orunodoi 2:0 scheme during a meeting in Kokrajhar city.
