Four arrested in Manipur with heroin and WY tablets valued at Rs 20 Crore
Northeast Desk, 12th October: Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) police, in collaboration with Assam Rifles, have apprehended four suspected smugglers in the last 24 hours in the state. They seized 46 kilograms of World is Your (WY) tablets and 45 cases of heroin from separate locations.
Following a tip off, a team from the NAB police station intercepted a Bolero vehicle and captured three alleged smugglers, along with 581 grams of heroin near the forest office in Napet Pali, located along the Maphou Dam road in the Imphal East district on Wednesday afternoon.
The operation also led to the discovery of three mobile phones and incriminating documents. The illicit drugs were cleverly concealed within 45 soap cases, hidden inside two rice bags.
The arrested individuals were identified as Phulmun Kashung (37) from Thangjingpokpi village, Senapati, CT Jackson (43) from Kangshum village, Kasom Khullen, and Ningshen Joy (40) from Kangkhum village, Ukhrul.
A case has been registered against them, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.
In a separate incident, personnel from the 20 Assam Rifles successfully seized a significant quantity of WY tablets, valued at around Rs 20 crore in the international market, at Khudengthabi along the Imphal-Moreh road on Wednesday.
These contraband tablets were transported from the Moreh side in a Mahindra Bolero with an Assam Registration number.
The alleged smuggler, J Alanson Lamkang (36) from Lamkang Khunou in Tengnoupal district, has been handed over to the Moreh police station.
