Manipur: Massive Arms and Ammunition Seized During Search Operation in Imphal West District
Northeast Desk, 14th October: In a significant operation carried out by the Manipur Police, a substantial cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition was seized during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Imphal West district. The operation was executed by a joint team comprising the Imphal West District Police and security forces in the Kameng, Khamran, and Mana Ingkhol areas of Imphal West district. The meticulous search spanned approximately 150 houses across these three villages.
The seized items during this extensive search operation include:
- Carbines – 3
- Carbine magazines – 5
- 9 mm pistol – 1 with 1 magazine
- 7.65 lama pistol – 1 with a magazine
- 36 high-explosive (HE) grenades – 3
- Air gun with scope – 1
- Ammunition:
a. 67 rounds of 9mm
b. 78 rounds of 0.45mm - 1 plastic magazine of an INSAS rifle
- Bulletproof (BP) jackets – 8
- Police uniforms – 13 pairs + 1 pant
- Jungle boots – 8 pairs
- Dummy rifles (made of wood) – 19
- Wireless sets – 3 with 4 chargers
- Receipt booklet of KCP (PWG Kangla)
- 1 attendance register
- Mobile phones – 6
- 1 Maruti Gypsy without a registration number plate
Remarkably, the CASO was executed without any untoward incidents, ensuring the safety of the operation’s participants and local residents. The recovered items have been handed over to the Lamshang police station for further appropriate legal actions.
