Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is engaged in cultural annihilation of Northeast, alleges Congress MP Rahul Gandhi
Northeast Desk, 17th October: During his three-day visit to Mizoram, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi held a press conference in Aizawl, where he criticized the BJP for manipulating regional parties to the detriment of the state.
Addressing reporters about the Congress’s strategy for the upcoming polls, Gandhi took aim at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of eroding the culture of the Northeast.
Gandhi accused the ruling BJP of exploiting regional parties for their personal political gain and suggested that the BJP and the RSS have a different vision that endangers the idea of India.
“While our vision is one of decentralization, the BJP’s vision aims to centralize power,” Gandhi stated during the press conference.
He expressed concern about the RSS’s impact on religious foundations and languages and emphasized the importance of allowing the people of Mizoram to express their own ideologies rather than being governed directly from Delhi.
Gandhi also highlighted the successful policies implemented by Congress-led governments in various states, such as the Rajasthan health model, which they intend to replicate in other states if they win.
He criticized the BJP for its actions in Manipur and the Prime Minister’s failure to visit the state.
Gandhi concluded by warning the people of Mizoram not to let their votes become an entry point for the BJP, as he considers the BJP and RSS to be threats to Mizoram and the idea of India.
