Assam boat race disaster as boat sinks in the midst of the race

Guwahati, 18th October: A thrilling boat race in a remote area at Baghmara, situated in the Gauripur police station of Assam’s Dhubri district, took a harrowing turn on October 17.

The incident featuring over 30 racing boats and 50-70 players per boat, turned into a life-threatening situation as one of the racing boats met with a grave mishap.

In the midst of the Tipkai River, where the high-stakes competition was in full swing, disaster struck as the lower panel of one racing boat broke down during the race, causing it to rapidly sink into the river’s depths. The occupants found themselves in a dire situation, with their lives hanging in the balance.

Upon the incident, rescuers immediately arrived at the spot, while some of the players aboard the distressed boat attempted to swim to safety.

In a stroke of luck, all lives were spared as they narrowly avoided a tragic outcome.
