Assam: Metamphetamine seized from Silchar airport

Guwahati, 19th October: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing battle against narcotics, authorities seized a huge quantity of methamphetamine, often referred to as meth or crystal meth, at Kumbhirgram Airport located in Assam’s Silchar.

Acting swiftly on a credible tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by the vigilant teams from Cachar Police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Their primary target was a group of suspected drug traffickers operating within the airport vicinity.

During the operation, law enforcement officials successfully intercepted and seized four packets containing a staggering four kilograms of methamphetamine. This highly potent synthetic drug is known for its dangerous effects on users and is often associated with illicit drug trade.

Notably, this significant drug haul didn’t just result in the confiscation of a large quantity of illegal narcotics. The operation also led to the apprehension of two individuals directly linked to the illicit drug trade.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to share this crucial development. He praised the relentless efforts of the Assam Police and CISF for their successful operation against drug trafficking.
