Manipur: Second accused arrested by CBI in Kwakta Bomb Blast Case
Northeast Desk, 20th October: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the case related to the bomb blast that occurred in Kwakta, located in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on June 21.
In a coordinated effort with Manipur Police, NIA recently arrested the second accused, identified as Mohammad Islauddin Khan.
NIA’s investigation had linked Islauddin to the bomb blast involving an IED-laden Scorpio vehicle, which had been parked on a bridge in the area of Phougakchou Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta along Tiddim road in Bishnupur district.
Following Islauddin’s arrest, he was presented before the jurisdictional court in Imphal, which subsequently remanded the accused to seven days of NIA custody.
Prior to this development, the NIA, working alongside Assam Police, had apprehended the first accused in the case, identified as Mohammad Noor Hussain, in Silchar, Assam’s Cachar district.
It is noteworthy that the blast had resulted in injuries to three individuals, and the bridge, along with nearby houses, had sustained damage due to the explosive impact. The apprehension of these individuals represents a significant step in the investigation into this serious incident.
