Guwahati: Assam Police Reserve Closed Due to Nuisance Near CM’s Government Residence

Guwahati, 21st October: A police officer, serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), has been placed in reserve closed status after he was apprehended on Friday night for causing a disturbance outside the government residence of the Assam Chief Minister in Guwahati while reportedly being in an inebriated state.

Reports indicated that the officer in question, identified as Shahidul Ali, was deputed from Kokrajhar district to serve at the chief minister’s official residence.

Last night, ASI Ali allegedly began creating a commotion and disturbance outside the CM’s residence, prompting the Dispur Police to apprehend him and conduct a medical test.

As of now, he remains in Dispur Police Station.

In a recent development, the inebriated police officer has been placed in reserve closed status over allegations of creating a disturbance outside the chief minister’s official residence.

Simultaneously, on the same night, a police escort vehicle was involved in an accident in Guwahati’s Lal Ganesh area. The incident occurred on the road connecting Lal Ganesh and Lokhra. The driver, purportedly inebriated, collided with several vehicles.

The escort vehicle, bearing the registration number AS05 M 6400, also struck a few pedestrians, causing injuries to two individuals who were subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Furthermore, a liquor bottle and playing cards (Tash Patti) were recovered from the vehicle.

It is suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place, resulting in damage to the vehicles and injuries to pedestrians.
