NH-10 in Sikkim Reopens After 16-Day Closure

Northeast Desk, 21st October: The National Highway No 10 (NH-10) has been reopened after a 16-day closure due to recent flash floods, providing much-needed relief for travelers.

NH-10, a crucial connectivity route in the Himalayan state, has been fully reopened from Teesta to Sethijhora. Recognizing the significance of this reopening, the district magistrate of Kalimpong in neighboring West Bengal, Balasubramanian T, issued a circular today.

This circular permits the movement of small and light vehicles on the route, but with certain restrictions. Vehicles in this category are allowed to travel in a single lane between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm.

According to the circular’s guidelines, small and light vehicles can use a single lane when traveling towards Siliguri, starting from the Rangpo-Melli-Teesta bridge and heading to Sethijhora.

For those journeying towards Darjeeling, they can utilize a single lane from Sethijhora and proceed via the Birik Dara route to reach Darjeeling. This decision is expected to significantly improve transportation in the area.
