Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Commences Two-Day Visit to Northeastern States
Northeast Desk, 23rd October: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh embarked on a significant two-day visit to the northeastern states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, with a primary focus on engaging with security personnel stationed in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh.
Sharing his agenda on the social media platform ‘X,’ Singh expressed, “Today, 23rd October, I shall be reaching Tezpur on a 2-day visit to Assam & Arunachal Pradesh. During my visit, I will interact with Armed Forces personnel deployed in the region and also visit forward areas.” The Defence Minister also conveyed his anticipation to celebrate Dussehra with the soldiers in Tawang, adding a special dimension to his visit.
In September, Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the Nechiphu Tunnel on the Balipara-Charduar-Tawang road in Arunachal Pradesh, marking a substantial infrastructure development. This inauguration event encompassed a total of 90 infrastructure projects executed by the Border Road Organization (BRO) along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The combined value of these projects amounted to Rs 2941 crore, extending across ten border states and union territories in the northern and northeastern regions of India.
Rajnath Singh’s visit underscores the strategic importance of the northeastern states and the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and security in the region.
