Assam: Maa Durga Deities Adorned with Jaapi, Assamese Mekhela Chadar, and Gamosa in Goalpara

Guwahati, 24th October: A Durga Puja pandal has been constructed in Assam’s Goalpara district, drawing a significant number of visitors due to its unique design. The photos from the Pandal are also going viral on social media.

Devi’s idols are crafted using traditional Assamese elements such as gamosa, jaapi, and mekhela chadar, along with the renowned muga clothing of Assam’s Bihu festival.

The puja was held in Borobazar, located in Goalpara district.

The images feature Devi and Lord Ganesh adorned in Assamese muga attire and dhotis, which have captured the imagination of people from both the state and beyond.

It needs to be noted that behind the idols, an Assamese traditional gamosa, with japis placed at the center, adds to the aesthetic.

Moreover, the entrance to the main gate is adorned with a large jaapi that showcases Assam’s rich heritage and culture.
