Communal Harmony Prevails: Kuki Village Residents Assist Distressed Meitei Person Amidst Manipur’s Renewed Peace Initiatives
Northeast Desk, 25th October: In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, residents of a Kuki village in Lhangnom, Tousem, Tamenglong, extended help to a distressed Meitei individual, Yaikhom Maipaksana Meitei from Imphal East, who had found himself in a dire situation after losing money due to theft, leaving him stranded with no means to return home.
The compassionate residents of the Kuki village took immediate action to ensure his safety and then notified the Assam Rifles, Kadamtala, seeking assistance. In collaboration with the Jiribam police, the Assam Rifles verified the Meitei person’s identity and promptly informed his family and the local police station regarding his well-being.
On the morning of October 23, the distressed individual was safely transported to his home in Imphal East with the collective efforts of Assam Rifles and the Jiribam district administration and police. These organizations have been tirelessly working to foster unity between communities and address issues through peaceful dialogues.
In recent weeks, multiple peace meetings have been organized at Assam Rifles, Kadamtala, SP Jiribam’s office, and in villages inhabited by both communities. These collaborative endeavors are yielding positive outcomes, as peace, harmony, and mutual understanding are being restored, allowing displaced individuals to return to their homes in a spirit of unity and reconciliation.
