“CM Sarma Hasn’t Spoken to Me Yet,” says Junmoni Rabha’s Mother
Guwahati, 26th October: Sumitra Rabha, the grieving mother of the late Sub-Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha, spoke out during a press conference, revealing that neither Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma nor anyone else had visited or reached out to her.
Sumitra expressed her feelings, saying, “I lost my daughter a few months ago, and now my son. I feel very lonely. Many people assume that the chief minister has provided assistance or contacted me after my daughter’s tragic death, but this is not the case.”
She called on the chief minister to ensure justice for the citizens of Assam, stating, “I do not wish to seek any help from the chief minister because he was absent when we needed him.”
“I don’t have anything more to get now, I have lost both of my children. I am all alone now, what will I do? Now the chief minister should give justice to the people of Assam, the media who helped and stood with me during the difficult times,” she added.
Sumitra also shared her thoughts on the ongoing investigation into her daughter Junmoni Rabha’s death, questioning the difference between the CBI finding her daughter’s mobile phone when the police and CID couldn’t.
She also mentioned the missing purse belonging to Junmoni Rabha, which contained her ATM card and important documents. However, the CBI has not yet recovered it.
Sumitra addressed a local news portal’s claim that CM Sarma had contacted their grieving family, refuting it by saying, “A news portal reported that CM Sarma contacted us after we lost our daughter, but it’s a false claim. How could they report this when he never spoke to or visited us even once?”
Previously, on May 18, CM Sarma had expressed his willingness to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) if the family of the deceased police official requested it.
CM Sarma explained, “There are multiple aspects to the incident, and it would be unfair to blame the deceased or the entire police department. If the family members of the deceased police officer request it, I am prepared to transfer the investigation to the CBI.”
Following this, the case was subsequently transferred to the CBI for further investigation.
