Sikkim: 8 including 3 children injured after massive boulder crushes van near Melli Bazaar
Northeast Desk, 27th October: Eight individuals, including three children, sustained injuries when the van they were traveling in was struck by falling boulders. The incident took place at approximately 1 PM in the vicinity of Melli Bazaar, West Bengal.
Swift action was taken by members of the Social Relief Team from the SKM Youth wing, who were the first to arrive at the scene to provide aid and rescue the injured individuals. The team included Mr. Dipen Subba, Mr. Yougen Rai, Mr. Brijesh Sunar, Mr. Yukub Lepcha, and Mr. Bishnu Sharma. They were subsequently joined by the West Bengal police and other first responders.
Regrettably, it has been reported that one person among the injured individuals has suffered severe injuries. All the wounded individuals have been promptly transported to hospitals located in Kalimpong and Melli for necessary medical attention.
Local authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident to determine the cause of the accident and ensure the safety of travelers in the area.
