Assam: STF Cracks Down on Illegal ‘Teer’ Gambling, Arrests Four
Guwahati, 27th October: In a move against illegal ‘teer’ gambling, the Special Task Force (STF) in Assam launched an operation at Fatashil GMC, New Colony M.B. Road, within the jurisdiction of Fatashil Ambari Police Station on October 27. The operation, which commenced around 3:30 PM, resulted in the arrest of four individuals engaged in habitual ‘teer’ gambling.
Authorities seized a significant amount of evidence, including 45 ‘teer’ gambling books, a sum of Rs. 6340 in cash, four papers indicating ‘teer’ shooting times (registered in Ri-Bhoi district under registration number 2), eight pens, a hardboard, and a seal.
The individuals taken into custody are identified as Bijoy Raj (22 years), son of Ram Lachan Raj, a resident of Bishnupur; Harindra Sah (19 years), son of Dinanath Sah, a resident of Rathkhola Gully; Nazrul Hoque (40 years), son of late Anowar Hussain, a resident of Birubari; and Dukha Mahato (47 years), son of late Ram Swarup Mahato, a resident of Biren Boro Path, House No. 2. The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, have been handed over to local law enforcement for further legal proceedings. This operation demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to tackling illegal gambling activities in the region.
