Manipur: Security Forces Discover Arms and Arrest Militants

Northeast Desk, 29th October: In an ongoing series of search operations conducted by the state police of Manipur and security forces, a significant cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and war-like supplies has been uncovered in the vulnerable areas of Bishnupur, Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal-West districts.

During these operations, authorities recovered two arms (an SMG Carbine with a magazine and a country-made 9mm Pistol), seven rounds of ammunition, and ten explosives from the vicinity of Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai and Kolbung Village under Phougakchao Ikhai PS in Bishnupur district.

Furthermore, security forces in Manipur apprehended five active members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), a Maoist militant group, on charges of extortion and illegal possession of arms. Officials conducted thorough search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas across four districts – Kakching, Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Imphal West.

During these operations, the five KCP military task force members were arrested, and authorities discovered a firearm along with 48 rounds of live ammunition, three 7.62mm ammunition charger clips, a pistol holster, three pairs of fighting attire with scarves, four pairs of jungle boots, and two belts.
