Assam: Tension in Margherita After Discovery of Deceased Youth

Guwahati, 29th October: Tension has arisen in Assam’s Margherita following the discovery of a deceased youth’s body. The body was found in a drain at Gotamala of Dirok Tea Estate under Margherita police station.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Bichu Toppo, a resident of Tongline Dirok Tea Estate under the 83 Margherita Constituency in Tinsukia district.

Locals detected a foul smell and found the dead body in the drain, leading them to immediately inform the police. The body was subsequently retrieved with the presence of Margherita’s executive magistrate.

The deceased had been working in Namtok and was reported missing since October 23. The family had also filed a missing report with the police.

The family members of the deceased suspect foul play and have urged the Margherita police and Margherita sub-divisional administration (civil) to apprehend the culprits. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination at Tinsukia Civil Hospital.
