Northeast Desk, 31st October: In a shocking and tragic incident on October 31, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Chingtham Anand, stationed in Moreh, was allegedly shot dead in an ambush by suspected Kuki militants.
The incident took place at Moreh Ward No. 7, Eastern Shine School Ground, located in the Tengnoupal district at around 9:30 am.
The ambush occurred while SDPO Ch. Anand and his team were engaged in a friendly football game at the ground.
It is reported that suspected Kuki militants suddenly attacked the Moreh Police team during the match.
SDPO Ch. Anand Kumar sustained severe injuries during the ambush, with reports indicating that a sniper’s bullet struck his abdomen, leading to his untimely demise.
