Assam: Massive Fire at Historic Market Raises Concerns Over Fire Response

Guwahati, 31st October: In a distressing incident, a raging fire consumed properties worth lakhs in Assam’s Dhemaji district, specifically at the historic No. 2 Daily Bazar. The blaze initially erupted on the top floor of a building within this age-old marketplace. Quick-thinking shopkeepers promptly alerted the fire department upon noticing flames billowing from the structure.

An immediate response was initiated with the arrival of a fire tender at the scene. Unfortunately, the initial firefighting effort was hampered when the lone fire tender ran out of water within a mere 15 minutes. Subsequently, two more fire tenders reached the location half an hour later, attempting to extinguish the fierce flames.

The incident raised concerns among local traders regarding the response time of the fire department. Some questioned the adequacy and readiness of firefighting resources in the area, emphasizing the need for a 24/7 active response system.

While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, it is suspected that a short circuit may be responsible for this devastating incident.
