Meghalaya: NPP to announce Lok Sabha candidates next month

Northeast Desk, 1st November: The newly appointed NPP state president, Prestone Tynsong, has revealed that the party will announce the names of candidates for both the Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats next month. Preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha election are already underway.

Tynsong emphasized that the groundwork is progressing, and while there is a transitional period due to his recent appointment, it won’t hinder their preparations. Several candidates have approached the NPP for a ticket, and the party is open to receiving applications.

Regarding the Tura parliamentary seat, currently held by NPP leader Agatha K Sangma, Tynsong mentioned that they will abide by the party’s constitution when deciding on candidates, whether they are incumbent or non-incumbent.

As the new president, Tynsong’s top priority is to reconstitute state-level committees, district committees, and block-level committees to prepare the party for upcoming elections. When asked about the ADC elections, he stated that they are working on selecting candidates and gathering recommendations from all districts.

Despite challenges, Tynsong highlighted the party’s increased voting percentage, reaching 31%, and they remain committed to making strategic improvements.
