2.77 Kgs of yaba tablets worth Rs 1 crore seized by Meghalaya police, one arrested

Northeast Desk, 2nd November: Meghalaya Police, led by Director General of Police (DGP), have achieved another significant victory in the battle against drug trafficking.

On November 2, they executed a successful operation, seizing a substantial 2.77 kilograms of Yaba tablets valued at Rs 1 crore.

This operation led to the apprehension of a notorious drug trafficker. The swift and decisive action by the East Jaintia Hills Police highlights the dedication of Meghalaya’s law enforcement agencies in combating the drug menace.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma commended the diligent efforts of the state’s police force on the microblogging site X.

He emphasized the need to protect the youth from the clutches of addiction and praised the prompt action by the East Jaintia Hills Police in thwarting the traffickers’ plans.

This achievement follows closely on the heels of another success by Meghalaya Police on October 29 when they apprehended a notorious drug trafficker and seized a significant amount of heroin worth Rs 15 lakh from his rented house in Shillong.

These actions underscore the commitment of Meghalaya’s law enforcement in combating illegal narcotics.
