Assam: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates 50-Bed Ayurvedic Hospital in Goalpara

Guwahati, 2nd November: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated a significant 50-bed Ayurvedic hospital in Dudhnoi, Assam’s Goalpara district, on November 2. This marks the second Ayurvedic hospital opened in Assam in less than a month, with Majuli being the first. The hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern laboratory, a Panchakarma center, an infertility clinic, a yoga unit, and both outpatient and inpatient services.

Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister, expressed his pleasure at making the wonders of India’s rich Ayurvedic heritage accessible to the people of Dudhnoi and the surrounding areas. He emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating traditional medicine like Ayurveda with modern healthcare infrastructure to create a more robust and inclusive healthcare system. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is investing in reviving its rich Ayurvedic heritage to promote a healthier India.

The Ayurvedic Hospital in Dudhnoi will offer a wide range of services, including Kaya Chikitsa, Panchakarma Therapy, infertility treatment, and more. The hospital is also equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory, a yoga unit, a pharmacy, and additional facilities will be developed to make the Dudhnoi campus a major Ayush center in the region.

Minister Sonowal highlighted the growing global recognition of Ayurveda and traditional medicine in managing healthcare, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The government is dedicated to reviving traditional forms of medicine like Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and more. It aims to make them active participants in the healthcare delivery system in the country and has released funds to support Ayush initiatives in Assam.

The event saw the presence of other dignitaries, including the Health Minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta, and local officials. Sarbananda Sonowal had previously announced the establishment of four more integrated hospitals and multiple Ayush dispensaries in Assam, demonstrating the commitment to expanding Ayurvedic healthcare infrastructure in the region.

The Ministry of Ayush is actively supporting state governments in implementing various Ayush-related activities to enhance healthcare services and infrastructure. This includes the setup of health centers, hospitals, dispensaries, and educational institutes specializing in Ayush systems of medicine, thus ensuring that people can access Ayurvedic healthcare facilities with ease.
