Nagaland to Soon Unveil State-of-the-Art Emergency Operation Centre Building

Northeast Desk, 3rd November: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) is set to establish a state-of-the-art State Emergency Operation Centre building near the Nagaland Secretariat site in Kohima.

According to Home Commissioner and CEO of NSDMA, Abhijit Sinha, this new location will enhance the accessibility and mobility of the machinery, ensuring effective response in various situations.

Sinha mentioned that the work for the proposed site will begin soon, as the state government has approved the Detailed Project Report, and work orders have been issued to the contractors.

He expressed optimism that the department is expected to have a fully equipped office within the next one to two years.

Johnny Raungmei, the Joint CEO of NSDMA, provided information on the project’s cost, estimating it to be around 18 crore rupees.

Additionally, he revealed that a Nagaland Disaster Management Research Centre is being set up below the Transport Commissioner’s office, and it is anticipated to be completed by the end of this month.

It’s worth noting that the current NSDMA Operation Centre, situated at Keziekie Kohima, faces potential risks due to inadequate space, infrastructure, road network issues, and daily traffic congestion.
