Nagaland: Commercial Vehicle Owners Association To Continue Chakka Bandh Until Payment Received

Northeast Desk, 4th November: The All Commercial Vehicle Owners Association (ACVOA) of Mokokchung initiated the ‘Chakka bandh’ yesterday, as reported by AIR.

Volunteers were observed enforcing the bandh at strategic locations in Mokokchung and even seized vehicles from those who defied the bandh call.

Tongpang Pongen, the President of ANTA Mokokchung unit, emphasized that they wouldn’t yield to the government’s false promises.

They declared that the bandh would persist until they receive their rightful payments and requested the public’s understanding for any inconveniences caused by the bandh.

In response, an emergency meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner, where both the DC and the SP urged the aggrieved party to end their protest.

They assured that the state government had sanctioned the payment and promised immediate disbursement upon receipt.

However, ACVOA representatives decided to maintain the bandh until the funds were actually received, urging the competent authority to expedite the transaction for the public’s general welfare.
