Assam: 78 per cent work of Brahmaputra River Bridge Project completed in Guwahati
Guwahati, 4th November: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma provided an update on the construction of the bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, stating that approximately 78 percent of the work is completed.
The overall project cost is estimated to be Rs 2,608.68 crore, with Rs 2,104 crore already received and Rs 450 crore budgeted for 2023-24.
CM Sarma unveiled details about the proposed Guwahati Ring Road Project, aimed at decongesting the city and enhancing its role as a gateway to Southeast Asia. The state government will bear 50 percent of the land costs in this 121 km project.
Additionally, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stones for 26 national highway projects with an investment of Rs 17,500 crore in Guwahati, contributing to the modernization of the state’s road transport network.
The progress of the Brahmaputra River bridge is a significant development for Assam’s infrastructure, providing improved connectivity for the state’s capital, Guwahati.
The Guwahati Ring Road Project and the investment in national highway projects underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region.
