Nagaland: NSCN (KYA) cadre arrested in Mon district
Northeast Desk, 7th November: In a significant operation, the Eastern Command Intelligence Battalion (ECIB) of the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Special Operation Team of Mon Police apprehended a hardcore cadre of NSCN (K-YA), who goes by the self-styled name Lt. Jyachuk Wangsu, also known as Abo.
This operation took place in a hideout located in Nagaland’s Mon district.
Wangsu, hailing from Chanu village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district and being the son of Mannyem Wangsu, recently made a switch from NSCN(U) to NSCN(K-YA).
Notably, Wangsu had a prior arrest in 2021 by Longding police and security forces on charges related to the possession of firearms. Reports stated that Wangsu, along with fellow K-YA cadres, had been consistently involved in demanding extortion under the instructions of senior NSCN (K-YA) leaders, namely self-styled Brig. Peyong Konyak, Self-Styled Col. Botai Wangsu, and Self-Styled Capt Panchin Wangsu.
