Arunachal: Border Roads Task Force Triumphs Over Monstrous Landslide to Reopen Key Roadway

Northeast, 7th November: In an feat of determination and skill, the 14 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under “Project Vartak” has successfully conquered a massive landslide that had severed the indispensable Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga (OKSRT) road, reconnecting Guwahati to Tenga in Arunachal Pradesh. This colossal landslide, an unfortunate event on November 1, 2023, not only wreaked havoc on traffic but also cast a shadow of peril over the entire region.

The OKSRT road had been grappling with disruptions since a previous, smaller landslide struck on October 10, 2023. However, the situation took a turn for the worse on November 1 when an entire mountainside came crashing down, compelling the Border Roads authorities to shut down the road entirely for three days.

Undaunted by adverse weather conditions and formidable obstacles, the 14 BRTF of Project Vartak sprang into action. With heavy machinery and a relentless workforce, they toiled ceaselessly to restore this vital thoroughfare for the local populace, tourists, and the military convoys that heavily depend on this lifeline.
