Guwahati: Opium worth Rs 6 crore transported from Manipur seized in Amingaon

Guwahati, 8th November: In a significant operation against illegal drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) working under the guidance of DIG STF Parthasarathi Mahanta executed a successful interception on November 8. The target was a vehicle with registration number AS 01 QC 9956, and it was found to be concealing narcotics within a concealed compartment.

Reports suggest that this Bolero pick-up van was en route from Manipur. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the STF team, headed by Additional SP (HQ) Kalyan Kumar Pathak, sprang into action.

Upon inspection, a staggering discovery was made – 36 packets of opium, amounting to 36 kilograms, were unearthed from the secret chamber within the vehicle.

The operation resulted in the apprehension of four alleged drug traffickers, identified as Safiqul Ali (39), Mamtul Ali (31), Raju Ajli (35), and Ainul Haque (38).

These individuals have been taken into police custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them at the STF police station.

This successful operation is a significant blow against the illegal drug trade in the region.
