Assam: Jaleswar MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah Granted Bail After Arrest for Communal Remarks
Guwahati, 9th November: Jaleswar MLA Aftab Uddin Mollah, arrested for making communal remarks against Hindu priests, has been granted bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court. The decision, following Mollah’s appearance on November 9, comes amid legal proceedings initiated by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) over his derogatory remarks.
The APCC issued a show cause notice to Mollah on November 8, prompting legal actions against him. The Congress party emphasized its commitment to discipline and respectful conduct, as reflected in an official circular stating that legal proceedings have been initiated, and party disciplinary steps have been taken.
In an effort to maintain decorum, the circular directed all Congress leaders and workers not to make any statements to the media without prior permission. The actions taken by the Congress leadership underscore the party’s commitment to inclusive behavior and maintaining a respectful political discourse.
