Assam: Elephant Killed by Poachers in Raimona National Park; Search Operation Underway

Guwahati, 12th November: In a distressing incident, poachers have targeted and killed an elephant in Raimona National Park, with the carcass discovered in the Kachugaon division. Forest rangers and local residents promptly responded, reaching the San Pan Range, where the lifeless elephant was found. Unfortunately, the tusks of the elephant were missing, leading authorities to strongly suspect poaching as the cause.

A search operation is currently underway in the area to apprehend the poachers responsible for this cruel act. The missing tusks underscore the illegal wildlife trade’s continued threat to endangered species, prompting heightened vigilance from conservation authorities.

After necessary medical inspections at the scene, the elephant’s body was respectfully buried within the forest. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced in the battle against poaching and the importance of robust conservation efforts to protect the wildlife inhabiting our national parks.
