Mizoram: 15 kg meth worth Rs 45 crore seized in Zokhawthar area
Northeast Desk, 13th November: In a joint operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and the Zokhawthar Police Department, a significant breakthrough was achieved as 15.91 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, valued at Rs 42 crores, were seized in the general area of Zokhawthar on November 10. The operation, prompted by specific information, marks a concerted effort to combat the ongoing issue of drug smuggling.
The combined team of Assam Rifles and the Zokhawthar Police Department successfully carried out the operation, and the entire consignment of illicit substances has been handed over to the Zokhawthar Police for further legal proceedings. This recent development underscores the persistent efforts of security forces to curtail the illegal drug trade, a major concern for Mizoram and the broader Indian region.
Notably, this comes on the heels of a recent joint operation where Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Mizoram Police, apprehended five Myanmar nationals and seized 2.61 kilograms of heroin valued at Rs 18.3 crores. The intensified efforts aim not only to seize contraband but also to target the masterminds orchestrating these illicit activities.
