Manipur: Condolences Flow as Kuki National Organization Mourns Passing of Defence Secretary
Northeast Desk, 13th November: The United People’s Front (UPF) expressed deep condolences following the unexpected passing of Thongsei Haokip, the Defence Secretary of the Kuki National Organization (KNO), on November 13.
Both the UPF and KNO, representing Kuki militants, have been engaging in political discussions with the Government of India to address the long-standing Kuki-Zo political issue.
In sharing their heartfelt sympathies, UPF Chairman ST. Thangboi Kipgen emphasized Haokip’s unwavering commitment to the Kuki-Zo national cause during his tenure in the armed movement, underscoring his integrity and dedication.
Kipgen noted, “His legacy will endure within the annals of Kuki history,” highlighting the challenge to fill the void left by Haokip’s demise.
The UPF also extended its deepest sympathies to Haokip’s family, KNO members, and leadership, acknowledging the heavy hearts within both organizations.
Concurrently, the Kuki National Front (KNF), the umbrella organization of Kuki armed militants, also conveyed its condolences on the untimely passing of KNO’s Defence Secretary.
Lh. Stephen, the KNF’s Information and Publicity Secretary, lamented Haokip’s loss during this critical time, praising his leadership, commitment, and endearing qualities that will be cherished in memory.
“His tireless dedication to the Kuki-Zo armed movement, his humor, and his compassionate nature will be warmly remembered by all,” stated Stephen, adding, “To live in the hearts we leave behind is the only way not to die.”
The KNF also expressed heartfelt condolences to Haokip’s wife, siblings, and fellow KNO members, acknowledging their shared grief and loss.
