39 Myanmar Army Personnel Detained in Mizoram Amid Border Tensions
Northeast Desk, 14th November: In the escalating border tensions, at least 39 Myanmar Army personnel have been detained in the Zokhawthar Police Station in Mizoram for illegally crossing the Myanmar border. This follows confrontations with the People’s Defence Force (PDF), which reportedly took control of two Myanmar Army camps on the Mizoram border.
Reports indicate that there were around 60 army personnel in each of the Myanmar Army camps. Despite the use of jet fighters and helicopters by the Myanmar Army, PDF fighters successfully overtook the camps.
The Young Mizo Association (YMA) has been actively involved in caring for refugees and those injured during the recent conflict. The YMA sub-headquarters in Champhai donated 42 units of blood to support the injured.
As the situation unfolds, 21 injured individuals, including civilians, were transported to Champhai District Hospital, resulting in one fatality on the way from Zokhawthar to the hospital. Eight seriously injured persons have been referred to Aizawl for advanced treatment, with five already admitted to hospitals in Aizawl, including Trinity Hospital and Ebenezer Hospital. The Central Young Mizo Association’s leaders are coordinating their reception in Aizawl.
