Himanta Biswa Sarma Asserts Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel Headed for Jail, Alleges Mahadev Betting App Involvement

National Desk, 15th November: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, campaigning in Chhattisgarh, has asserted that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is headed for jail. Sarma alleges Baghel’s involvement in the Mahadev betting app case and predicts Enforcement Directorate (ED) action post-elections.

Addressing the media in Raipur, Sarma stated, “Bhupesh Baghel knows that he is going to jail, he wants to take 10 others along with him… It is ED’s large-heartedness that it has given time to Baghel to contest elections.”

Sarma had earlier accused Baghel of “looting” 508 crores through the Mahadev betting app and hinted at ED intervention. He suggested that Baghel’s cabinet colleague TS Singh Deo would take over as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister after the elections.

Notably, the ED claims to have recorded a statement from a ‘cash courier’ alleging payments of Rs 508 crore to Bhupesh Baghel by Mahadev betting app promoters. Baghel has denied these allegations. The political tension continues amid the ongoing state election campaign.
