Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to Represent India at Maldivian President-elect’s Oath-taking Ceremony

National Desk, 15th November: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju is set to represent India at the oath-taking ceremony of Maldivian President-elect Mohamed Muizzu.

The Union Earth Sciences Minister will embark on a two-day official visit to the Maldives starting November 16, responding to an invitation from President-elect Muizzu.

Rijiju’s presence at the inaugural ceremony signifies India’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Maldives, a nation holding a special place in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “SAGAR” (Security and Growth for All in the Region) and the “Neighbourhood First Policy.”

 The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the significance of India’s high-level ministerial representation at the event, reinforcing the enduring relationship between the two countries.

While Prime Minister Modi received an invitation to attend the ceremony, Union Minister Rijiju will stand in representation, showcasing India’s continued dedication to its strategic partnership with the Maldives in the Indian Ocean Region.
