Kiren Rijiju ‘praises’ Indian community’s contributions in Maldives
Northeast Desk, 19th November: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed his satisfaction with the positive engagement he had with the Indian community in the Maldives. He praised their noteworthy efforts in fortifying the ties between India and the Maldives.
In a social media post on platform X, Minister Rijiju highlighted the community’s pivotal role in advancing bilateral relations and assured them of the Indian government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.
“Delighted to interact with vibrant and committed Indian Community in Maldives. Commended their significant contributions in nurturing India-Maldives ties. Assured them of the continued commitment of @mygovindia for their welfare and wellbeing”, posted Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on X.
As the Union Minister for Earth Sciences, Rijiju met with the recently inaugurated President of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, earlier today. He reiterated India’s resolve to strengthen bilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Rijiju conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s best wishes to President Muizzu during their meeting. Representing India at the swearing-in ceremony on Friday, Rijiju participated in the event, congratulated the new President, and attended the official banquet. He expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Maldives.
On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs disclosed that Prime Minister Modi had received an invitation to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the Maldives president-elect Mohamed Muizzu.
