Sam Altman Makes Comeback as OpenAI’s CEO
International Desk, 22nd November: Resolving the recent power struggles in the tech industry, OpenAI has officially declared Sam Altman’s return as CEO. Greg Brockman, who resigned from the board after Altman’s removal, is also making a comeback to the ChatGPT maker.
The announcement came through a tweet from OpenAI, detailing the agreement for Altman’s reinstatement along with a new board comprising Bret Taylor, Larry Summers, and Adam D’Angelo.
Altman, taking to X, revealed his decision to join Microsoft on Sunday evening, emphasizing it as the optimal path for both him and the team.
Expressing love for OpenAI, he looks forward to rejoining with the new board and building a robust partnership with Microsoft under Satya’s support. Altman clarified that all his recent actions aimed to preserve the team and its mission.
In response to Altman’s statement, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella expressed encouragement regarding the changes to the OpenAI board.
Altman’s abrupt removal had surprised both him and the company’s employees, leading to resignations, including that of Brockman and other AI professionals, in protest.
