Guwahati, 22nd November: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a grant of Rs 1.5 lakhs to Bihu committees for organizing the Bihu festival.
Chief Minister Sarma shared on the social media platform X, stating that this financial support is part of the government’s ongoing initiatives.
He emphasized, “As part of our government’s initiatives, the Government of Assam is now providing Rs 1.5 lakhs to Bihu committee for organizing the Bihu festival. This marks the first time such support is being provided under our administration.”
In April of the current year, Chief Minister Sarma had disbursed timely financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakhs to 2,114 Rongali Bihu committees across the state.
This initiative, initiated by the state cultural affairs department in 2022, continues into the next year, with the government extending one-time financial assistance to Bihu Committees in the state.
