Manipur CM attends Premiere of Rupmahal Theatre’s “Iningthou Kulachandra”
Northeast Desk, 22th November: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, attending the premiere of the 246th stage play “Iningthou Kulachandra” by Rupmahal Theatre, emphasized its role in educating present and future generations about Maharaja Kulachandra’s spirit and sacrifices. As the chief guest, he underscored the historical significance of Rupmahal Theatre and pledged around Rs 4 crore for its reconstruction.
Highlighting the transformative power of theatre in society, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of various art forms, including theatre and cinema. Singh praised the state’s prowess in art, culture, and sports, emphasizing the role of CMAT in supporting local artists. He encouraged the promotion of Thang-ta among the youth, citing its benefits in physical fitness and discipline.
Expressing concern about a perceived loss of nationalistic sentiment and discipline among the people, Singh personally identified with Maharaj Kulachandra’s deeds, aiming to highlight his story through the play. The Chief Minister emphasized the play’s message on the sacrifices of leaders and the need to preserve historical events.
N. Biren Singh informed about an upcoming film on the ‘Seven Years Devastation’ and heroes like Maharaj Gambhir Singh, Maharaj Nar Singh, and Heerachandra. In addressing the present challenges in the state, he urged everyone to face hardships for a stronger future and assured no compromise in protecting the state.
The event was attended by Minister Shri Heikham Dingo Singh, along with various artists and dignitaries.
