Arunachal: Itanagar Municipal Corporation Collaborates with NGT for Inspection of Sanitation Projects

Northeast Desk, 23rd November: The Itanagar Municipal Corporation, under the leadership of Mayor Tamme Phassang, has partnered with officials from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for a comprehensive inspection of key sanitation projects aimed at making Itanagar the cleanest city in the region. The focus of the inspection included the 3.00 MlD Sewerage cum 100 KLD Septage treatment plant at Naharlagun and the access road to the proposed solid waste treatment plant at Chimpu near Itanagar.

During the inspection, Mayor Tamme Phassang emphasized the urgency of implementing underground drainage systems for the capital city, considering the unique challenges posed by Arunachal Pradesh’s weather conditions. Mayor Phassang highlighted the commitment to completing projects within the stipulated time and the close monitoring of projects by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

Mayor Phassang addressed ongoing efforts to address waste management issues in Itanagar, including the construction of the Sewerage treatment plant in Naharlagun and the nearing completion of the Septic treatment plant on the highway near Itanagar. He also welcomed constructive criticism, emphasizing the importance of transparency in democracy and encouraging the youth to seek information through RTI. The mayor affirmed the dedication to making Itanagar a clean city and acknowledged the significance of feedback for ongoing initiatives.
