Assam: Businessman’s Son Assaulted with Cricket Bats in Jorhat, Assailants Flee with Rs 16 Lakh

Guwahati, 26th November: In a shocking incident that occurred in Assam’s Jorhat, one youth was brutally attacked with cricket bats by assailants and a bag containing Rs 16 lakh was snatched from him on November 25.

The assailants who were four in number arrived on two bikes without number plates in Marwari Patti of Jorhat targeting the youth identified as Mihir Dalmia, the son of businessman Kamal Dalmia, owner of Jhanvi Textile.

The victim, who had closed his shop, was ambushed on his way home. The incident not only raises concerns about the security arrangements in the locality but also highlights the audacity of the attackers.

Mihir sustained severe injuries to his head and eyes during the assault, which occurred in the deserted streets under the cover of darkness.

The miscreants fled the scene after snatching the bag of money, leaving the cricket bat behind.

Upon discovering Mihir covered in blood, the local people immediately informed his father and Superintendent of Police Mohanlal Meena. SP Meena arrived at the spot to gather information about the incident.

The audacious nature of the attackers is evident, and the Sadar police station in-charge, Rahul Deuri, arrived at the spot as soon as news of the incident reached him.

Traders in the area expressed discontentment with the security arrangements, prompting scrutiny of CCTV footage in the vicinity. Makhanlal Gattani, President of the Upper Assam Chamber of Commerce, rushed to the scene, emphasizing the unexpected and shocking nature of the incident.
