Assam: Smuggled cattle heads seized by state police from luxury car in Gauripur
Guwahati, 26th November: Despite numerous police crackdowns, the illicit trade of cattle heads continues unabated in the state. In the early hours of Sunday morning, authorities in Dhubri district intercepted a luxurious vehicle transporting cattle heads in Gauripur.
Acting on a tip, a police team led by Jitumoni Baishya, the officer-in-charge of Gauripur police station, tracked a suspicious vehicle from Balajan and successfully halted it near Binamandir in Ward No. 10 of Gauripur.
The vehicle, bearing registration WB-74N-6314, originated from West Bengal and entered the Dhubri area via Sagolia. Despite the alleged smugglers managing to escape, a search of the vehicle revealed five cows with their feet brutally bound.
The Gauripur police impounded the vehicle and transferred the seized cattle heads to the nearest pound for further examination and the initiation of a comprehensive inquiry.
