Assam CM announces Rs 5 crore for the construction of Lokhimon temple in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, 26th November: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on November 26 unveiled plans to elevate Karbi Anglong into a tourist haven with the announcement of an Rs 5 crore budget for the construction of a Lokhiman temple in Dolamara.

Addressing a public gathering at Lokhiman Ashram in Karbi Anglong, CM Sarma highlighted the transformative impact of the 700-year-old Lokhimon faith, initiated by priest Lokhon Engti Hensek in Bapuram Tokbi village, Dolamara.

Devotees of the Lokhimon faith estimate the presence of around 113 Lokhimon ativan (temples) with over 60,000 followers. These include four ashrams located at No 2 Dolamara, Japralangso, Kokila in Arunachal Pradesh, and Rongnagar in Bakulia, collectively referred to as Dovan Longri Anei.

CM Sarma commended the teachings of priest Lokhon Engti Hensek, underscoring his role not only as a religious preacher but also as a social reformer. The priest advocated for gender equality, promoting love and kindness not only among humans but also extending to animals and birds. Sarma praised the inclusive and compassionate message propagated by the revered religious figure.
