Assam’s Longest Flyover, Dighalipukhuri to Bamunimaidan Takes Flight, set to complete by 2026

Guwahati, 26th November: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared on November 26 the initiation of construction for the state’s longest flyover, connecting Dighalipukhuri to Bamunimaidan. The ambitious project aims to tackle congestion issues and enhance connectivity in the area, with an anticipated completion date set for 2026.

During the announcement, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the need for community cooperation during the construction phase and expressed confidence in completing the significant infrastructure project within the stipulated timeline.

This development follows the recent inauguration of the Shraddhanjali Flyover on Zoo Road in Guwahati on October 18, 2023. The newly added flyover has already demonstrated its effectiveness in alleviating traffic congestion in the city.

The commitment to enhancing infrastructure was kickstarted with the inauguration of Maligaon’s ‘Nilachal Flyover’ on August 30, 2023. Building on this momentum, Chief Minister Sarma had earlier inaugurated the Arya Nagar Flyover in October 2022. Spanning approximately 790 meters and constructed at a cost of around Rs 149.07 crore, the Arya Nagar Flyover has proven to be a crucial addition to the region’s infrastructure landscape.
