Guwahati, 27th November: Guwahati’s Cotton University is in the spotlight again as some students from one of the boys’ hostels are accused of physically attacking a woman on Sunday night. Initial reports suggest that the boys, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, first attacked a man on the road. When the woman tried to intervene, she was also assaulted.
The victim recounted, “A few boys were thrashing an aged man brutally, alleging him to be a thief. When I and my husband asked them to stop, they slapped my husband. They then hit my head after which I fainted.”
Upon being informed, Panbazar police responded to the incident, and the woman was taken to the police station for a medical examination.
However, the hostel authorities deny the allegations, stating that the involved boys are not from Cotton University and that hostel students adhere to established rules. The incident has sparked outrage, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.
