A delegation of Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee is set to meet Election Commission officials to appeal for rescheduling the counting date, which falls on a Sunday, a sacred day for Christians in the Christian-majority state.
Polling on November 7 recorded over 80% voter turnout, and various parties, civil societies, and organizations have urged the Election Commission to consider changing the counting date. The results will reveal the composition of the 40-member Mizoram assembly, with ruling MNF, ZPM, Congress, BJP, and AAP in contention.
