Assam Government to distribute Anundoram Baruah Award to over 27,000 Meritorious Students

Guwahati, 28th November: The Government of Assam is set to honor 27,183 outstanding students with the prestigious Anundoram Baruah Award during a ceremony at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on November 29.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the ceremony, which will also witness simultaneous award distribution ceremonies in various districts across the state.

The award creamony in Dibrugarh District will take place at the District Library Auditorium at 10:30 am on November 29, with Ashok Singhal, Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation, in attendance. Another accolade, the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, will be bestowed upon deserving students at 10:30 am on November 30 at the same venue in the presence of the minister.

The Anundoram Baruah Award, a commendation for students scoring a minimum of 75% in the HSLC examination, will grant ₹15,000 each to 27,183 students through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) to their respective accounts.

Additionally, the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Award will see the distribution of 35,775 scooters to accomplished students who have successfully cleared their Class 12 examinations. In the recent Class 12 exams conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), 5,566 boys scoring 75% and above, along with 30,209 girls achieving 60% and above, are slated to receive scooters as a recognition of their academic excellence.
